The situation

Four tools, three spreadsheets, and nobody sure what is true.

A form for the test. A video call for the invigilation. A staff member marking two hundred written answers by hand over a weekend. A spreadsheet for who applied where, kept by one person, out of date by Wednesday. And at the end of it, a placement report that nobody can defend line by line because the evidence is in four places.

CareerOS is the one place all four of those live, and every number in it can be traced back to the paper somebody sat.

What it does

Four jobs, one record.

Each one works on its own. Together they mean a score has a paper behind it, a paper has evidence behind it, and an offer has both.

Examine

Write a paper from a topic, a job description or your own question bank — multiple choice, numeric, written answers and programming, in thirteen Indian languages.

Invigilate

Camera, identity check, full screen, tab and focus. Everything recorded as evidence with a time against it — and a person, never the software, decides what it meant.

Mark

Written answers and code marked against your rubric, with the reason written out. Substance in poor English scores. Anything the marker was unsure of goes to a human.

Place

Every candidate on a board per drive — applied, shortlisted, interviewed, offered, placed — because the same person is at a different stage at three companies at once.

These are numbered because they genuinely happen in this order. Each one is a screen, not a promise.

The paper is written

Paste the company's job description. The skills it actually asks for come back, weighted, and a paper is built against them. Or open your own question bank and choose. Either way you see every question before anybody sits it.

The hall is opened

Students sign in with the address their college registered. An invitation link brings in candidates from outside — a WhatsApp forward is a valid way to run a drive, and pretending otherwise does not make it stop happening.

It is invigilated

Identity photo, camera checks through the paper, full-screen and focus watched. A student using a screen reader is not treated as a cheat, because their institution said so in advance.

It is marked, and the doubtful part is queued

Multiple choice instantly. Written answers and code against the rubric with the reasoning attached. Anything flagged, auto-submitted or marked with low confidence lands in a review queue for a person to settle.

The morning-after report

Who registered, who turned up, the turnout, who finished. Readiness per skill rather than one averaged number, because a candidate who sat Python, Testing and Communication is not one number.

And then the pipeline

The ones worth taking forward move onto the drive's board. Every move is dated and stays on the record, so at the end of the season the placement report writes itself from what happened.

Invigilation

It collects evidence. It does not pass judgement.

Every signal is recorded with a time against it and shown to a human being. Nobody is failed by a piece of software, and no result is quietly adjusted — which is the only version of this a college can defend to a parent.

Identity before the paper. A photograph at the start, matched against the face through the paper, so the person who finishes is the person who began.
The room, not just the screen. A second face, an empty chair, a phone in view — recorded as what was seen, at what minute.
Accessibility is arranged in advance. A student's own assistive software stops being read as suspicious the moment their college approves it.
A bad connection is not cheating. Work is held locally and sent when the line comes back, and the gap is recorded as a gap.

Never

An automatic fail. The software has no opinion on whether somebody cheated. It says what it saw and who was watching.

Marking and reporting

A number you can argue with.

Every written mark carries its reason and who made it. Change one and the attempt regrades in front of you. A cohort is reported skill by skill, not as one average that hides which half of the class cannot write SQL.

Marked against your rubric — not a general idea of a good answer.
Substance beats grammar. A correct answer in poor English gets the marks. This is not a language test unless you set one.
Programming answers are run. Against the tests the question was written with, in a sealed container, not judged by eye.
A submitted paper is always marked — even if the account has run out of credits. Work somebody has already done is never held to ransom.
Placement

A candidate is not at one stage.

On the same Tuesday somebody is shortlisted at one company, interviewed at a second and already declined by a third. A single "status" column is how a college schedules an interview for a candidate who signed elsewhere on Monday. So the board is per drive, and every card says where else that person stands.

Talent search on evidence. "Python above 70" means seventy in an invigilated exam. A CV that claims Python is never returned by it.
An interview room for the employer. One link, no account, and they see only what you chose to share.
Candidates are kept, not deleted. Somebody you tested and did not place is the most useful list a college owns: people whose ability it has measured rather than read about.

Questions we are actually asked

Straight answers.

Where does our data live?
On the server CareerOS is installed on. If that is your server, it never leaves your building. Students' answers, evidence and results belong to the institution that collected them, and no institution on a shared server can see another's — that boundary is enforced by the server on every request, not by hiding menus.
Can the software fail a student for cheating?
No, and it is built so that it cannot. It records what it saw, with times, and puts it in front of a person. Every decision on the record carries the name of the human who made it.
What about students on bad connections or old phones?
Answers are held on the device and sent when the line comes back; a gap is recorded as a gap rather than as suspicious behaviour. The paper runs in a browser — nothing to install.
Which languages?
Thirteen: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese and Urdu. A paper written in one can be translated into another and you see the result before anybody sits it.
Do we need our own AI key?
No. Every package includes a monthly allowance of AI work, and you can see exactly what has been spent and on what. If you would rather use your own key, the one-off purchase does that and removes the allowance entirely.
What happens if we run out of the allowance mid-drive?
A paper somebody has already submitted is always marked — that is never withheld. New work pauses and tells you exactly how many credits it needed and what to do about it. You can buy more without changing package.
How do we pay?
A UPI transfer or an NEFT, and you upload the receipt. A person at Gnovate matches it and approves it, and your account updates. No card is stored anywhere.
How long does it take to start?
A demonstration account is opened the same day. Bringing in your own students is a spreadsheet of names and email addresses — most colleges are running a real paper within a week.
